How to build a secret door.

A wall isn´t always the end of a way...

You may use the wall-elements of the base-set and place them in the given openings of the rooms and use these walls as secret doors. But it´s much more exciting to fix a secret door with a mechanism that allows you to open and to close it or to install a secret door on a big-room-element where no openings are given.
To create such a module by yourself you only need a sharp scalpel, a cutter-knife, some sandpaper, a ball pen, a screw, a screwdriver and approx. 20 minutes time.
The first steps are nearly the same as in the workshop "How to remove a wall".

Step 1
Cut the vertical gaps between the wall and the post with the scalpel (start with shallow cuts and go slightly deeper).

Step 2
Cut the horizontal gap with the cutter-knife and remove the wall.

Step 3
You can remove the flat rest of the wall with some sandpaper.

Step 4
You can use a ball pen to add the missing gaps on the cut surface.
Don´t forget to do the same with the removed piece of wall.

Step 5
You won`t recognize the modification if you paint the module afterwards.

Step 6
Now take an approx. 3.5 cm long screw and drive it from the top of the module through the floor at that place where you want to have the hinge.
The screw shouldn´t be too thick. Otherwise the removed wall-piece could be damaged in step 7.

Step 7
Now remove the screw and drive it into the floor; start from the bottom of the module where the screw left a hole in step 6.
Hold the removed wall-piece in its former position to make sure that it will be attached by screwing.

The secret door is ready to be opened and closed thanks to its "screw-hinge".

We wish you a lot of fun with constructing and painting.
